About the role

Witle Academy is a Johannesburg-based data and AI education company. We’re building out our e-learning platform with courses taught by people who’ve done the work in real industries, not just in theory.

As a freelance Course Instructor, you’ll take on course jobs: courses on topics that are in demand on our e-learning platform. You choose the jobs that match your expertise, then record the course and bring in the real-world problems you’ve solved in your industry. Our team provides the course brief, datasets and research, and reviews your videos before they’re published, so you can focus on teaching.

New to creating courses? We also provide creator training to help you become a better course creator, from structuring a lesson to recording clear videos and presenting with confidence on camera.

Success in this role means learners finish your course able to apply data and AI skills the way they’re actually used at work. That means clear explanations, practical examples and realistic case studies.

This role is fully remote and flexible, and can be done alongside your current job.

How it works

  2. Pick a course jobChoose an in-demand topic from our e-learning platform that matches your expertise.
  3. Record your lessonsUse our brief and datasets to record clear video lessons, case studies and exercises.
  4. Send for reviewSubmit your videos. Our team reviews them and lets you know if anything needs changing.
  5. Go liveWe publish the course and learners start learning from your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take on course jobs from the in-demand topics listed on our e-learning platform that match your industry and technical experience
  • Record clear, well-paced video lessons that explain concepts and walk through practical demonstrations
  • Build real-world case studies and examples, using the datasets Witle Academy provides
  • Prepare supporting materials such as exercises, slides and project briefs so learners can practise alongside each lesson
  • Submit your videos to the Witle Academy team for review, and make any changes we request
  • Keep your courses up to date as tools and industry practices change

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, data science, data engineering or AI engineering
  • Experience applying these skills in an industry such as finance and banking, auditing and risk, logistics and supply chain, HR, marketing, insurance, retail, healthcare, mining and energy, or telecommunications
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, cloud data platforms)
  • Ability to explain technical concepts simply to beginners and intermediate learners
  • Comfortable presenting on camera
  • Teaching, mentoring, training or content creation experience is a plus, but not required. We’ll train you as a creator
